Low & High Alloy Steel
Typically, alloy steel will be categorized into one of two categories: low alloy steel and high alloy steel. Whether you’re looking for high alloy steel or low alloy steel, you can find what you need at Triple-S Steel® in a vast variety of shapes and sizes.

Types of Alloy Steel
- Low Alloy Steel: Low alloy steel may include up to 8% alloying elements, though you’ll usually find these percentages hover around 1%-5%. It tends to be a step up from carbon steel but doesn’t quite match up with the qualities found in high alloy steel.
- High Alloy Steel: High alloy steel contains more than 8% alloying elements. Because of this, they tend to be used in situations where heat and corrosion-resistance properties are crucial for their performance.
Steel Processing
While steel is an alloy in and of itself, alloy steel is in a category of its own. Alloy steel is primarily composed of iron and carbon with extra alloys deliberately included to create a stronger steel that is more resistant to heat, corrosion, and general wear and tear. The additional alloys that may be included are manganese, nickel, chromium, and many more. These extra elements can be found in as little as 1% of the alloy steel by weight, up to a whopping 50%.
No matter which type of steel you choose, Triple-S Steel® is a steel alloy supplier that offers high-value processing services including plasma cutting, saw cutting, and more.
